There has never been so much choice in how or where you watch TV. Smartphones, tablets & laptops mean we can catch up on our favorite shows anywhere, and anytime. The problem is the traditional way of viewing television has declined so drastically over the last few seasons.

Total Viewers (millions)   NBC 8.19 ABC 9.90 CBS 7.78 FOX 2.95 CW 0.88

I chose the 1 week earlier in 2012 as that night’s numbers contained fewer repeats than the following Monday.
Only one program from this weeks ratings would have made the top 10 five seasons ago The Voice. Anybody remember Smash? A 1.9 rating would be instant renewal now but NBC’s musical barely lasted 2 seasons.
The Voice has dropped 45% since 2012
Dancing With The Stars down 36%
Castle Down 50% since 2012
Mike & Molly which made it’s time slot premiere for the final eps down 58% against 2012’s ratings.

So you can see how the TV landscape has changed on Mondays in five seasons.
Here’s a question to leave you with:
How much further will the numbers fall next season?
Scary to think about it……
