Tweeted this back in January:

Sun Jan 4
Ratings/Viewers Millions
Revenge 0.9 3.9 Will have enough eps for syndication at end of this season. At risk of cancellation.

Then I had to downgrade it’s chances further.

Sun Jan 25 Preliminary TV Ratings/Viewers Millions
Revenge 0.9 3.7 – High risk of cancellation IMO

Things got a little better ratings wise but still not good enough.

Sun Mar 22 Prelim TV Rating/Millions
Revenge 1.1 4.4 Network Call 50/50 – If based solely on ratings, outlook not good.

On April 13 it appeared ABC had decided the shows fate.

Has #Revenge Been Cancelled By ABC? May 10 could be series finale.

#Revenge averages below 5 million on same day viewing figures. The upwards cost of renewal v the decline in ad rates puts it in danger.

Then I pointed out something no one had appeared to realize, this season has one more episode than the previous 3:

ABC has given #Revenge one extra ep this season – Will episode 89 on May 10 be the series finale to see things out?

Sadly my analysis was right.

Here’s the series Executive Producer Sunil Nayar talking to Entertainment Weekly.

While Nayar promises closure for fans, “There’s a tiny little cliffhanger in the series finale,” he says. “We don’t want people to get weary of the stories we’re telling, so we felt like they deserve an ending to this novel that Mike Kelley started four years ago. I really feel like the last couple chapters are worthy of the first many.”
